About Joan

I took care of my father in his home after his fall off a ladder. He had traumatic brain injury and lost function in walking, talking and feeding himself. I washed him, dressed him, kept him on a schedule for his water and meds, and fixed him healthy meals. I would take him out for walks at the park and help him with daily PT exercises, speech therapy, and OT. I have also cared for an elderly stroke survivor who has lost much physical function, but was mentally sharp as a nail. I enjoyed making her meals, providing companionship, doing chores, and helping her in any way. I understand pain management and am patient. Not only am I extensively CPR and first aid trained, I am also verse on safety, falls, and concussion. I take my experience, my understanding, patience and desire to help others into my passion for helping the elderly. I have 2 degrees, one in the biomedical science field and the other in the social sciences.
