About Joan

As an experienced ESL teacher, I enjoy meeting students from around the world and helping them develop and improve their English language skills. It's always a joy to hear that my teaching has enabled students to make new friends or achieve their goals at work or school. Students and their families describe my personality as calm, patient and kind. I started teaching ESL in 2000, to individuals and groups, and I'm willing to teach several friends and/or family members together, to share the hourly fee. I'm certified in Connecticut to teach Adult ESL and TESOL in grades preK-12, as well as English and French in grades 4-12. My ESL teaching style includes conversational, reading and writing activities, using visual materials to present new vocabulary, and gentle but consistent coaching in grammar and pronunciation. In addition, your ongoing feedback will ensure that my lessons meet your specific needs. I would welcome the opportunity to help you achieve your goals.
