I enjoy being active and most of my experience with people with special needs is through nonprofit organizations that provide sports and physical activity to people with a wide range of disabilities. These activities include teaching adaptive skiing and assisting sled hockey, power soccer, and wheelchair basketball teams. I have worked with children and adults with visual impairments, autism spectrum disorders, spinal cord injuries, Down Syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, hearing impairments, rare cognitive disabilities, etc. I have had to work with different teaching and learning styles and am always willing to adapt with the individual. I technically have no paid experience, but 5 years of volunteer work, 1 year of which is internships, or equivalent to 1 year paid experience.
