Humans are social by nature and our brains are wired to connect with others. Dogs are also social and wired to connect as well, but the difference is that they are comparatively uncomplicated as companions. A dog has a few needs and once they are met, what's left is love and connection. They don't have drama like humans do, they are ADORABLE, they are fun, they live to collaborate with humans which is soothing to both humans and the dog as well as it provides a lot of fun, they (nearly all, except for certain purpose bred LGD and a few others) always choose proximity to their humans over being alone which is endearing and makes a human feel wanted. They are great companions, loving and goofy. Most dogs seek out attention and like to be petted. What is also produce oxytocin.
