I have been a caregiver for the elderly and individuals with special needs for over 20 years. During this time, I worked long term with three families (8 years, 6 years and 6 years) where I provided 24-hour care for their loved ones. The woman I took care of for the past 6 years recently passed away and I am looking for a full-time position with a new family or person in need. I'm extremely dependable, having traveled from Northern Michigan to Metro Detroit each week to provide care. I'm willing to travel longer distances for longer shifts if the job seems like the right fit. My attention to detail and organization skills are my strong points but I think that the most important part of doing this work is making sure the people I am responsible for feel safe and well cared for in their own homes. Jennifer helped care for our brain injured mother for over 6 years. Despite her 3 hour drive, she was never late. Our mother was physically well, but suffered from worsening dementia and could not be left alone in her home for a moment. Jennifer carefully and creatively directed her so that her every need was met; all meals, medications, clothing, exercise, and physical hygiene. She lovingly care for mom to the day she passed. Jennifer was a joy to work with and our family also felt well cared for. She skillfully and cooperatively managed the household and worked well with the other caregivers. Any family will be lucky to have Jennifer help care for their loved one. Our family will miss her.
