While pursuing my psychology and neuroscience degree at the University of Arizona, I was a peer mentor for a program called Project Focus which encourages non-degree seeking special needs students to attend university classes, learn the importance of gaining their independence, and create lifelong friendships with their peers and mentors. When I was still in high school, I worked with a little boy for about two years who had Autism when he was 7-9. I also took care of a little girl with Down Syndrome for three summers in a row when she was 4-7. In addition, I have a first cousin who is the same age as me (23) and has a severe learning disability and is non-verbal. I am incredibly passionate about working with students with disabilities and children with special needs! Please contact me and let me know how I can benefit you and your family! I look forward to hearing from you!
