I was attending ETSU and majoring in Special Education with a focus on Visual Impairments and Blindness. My goal was to become a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. Unfortunately I had to withdraw for financial and medical reasons (diabetic complications, all under control now. While attending ETSU I participated in several events where we worked with children with disabilities. I also volunteered in the special education classroom where my mother is a Teacher's Assistant. I have always enjoyed working with individuals with special needs ever since I was a child. Growing up I had a dear friend who was mentally handicapped. I loved hanging out with him and spending time together on our families boats. This continued as I got older and ended up with me studying special education. I have also worked at a summer camp for blind and visually impaired adults, hence my passion for working with the blind and visually impaired.
