In recent years I have worked with and formed strong bonds with my clients. A full-time position as a private caregiver to a wheel-chair bound woman was offered to me by a friend and I worked with her for 6 years. It was more than a job, it was a strong friendship. My tasks included companionship, medication management, transferring her to the car and going out most days for errands and appointments, meal preparation, light house cleaning, and personal care. I spent a year with a client who had Alzheimer's . I traveled to New Canaan 3 days a week after she and her husband moved back there. We had formed a bond that made her accept me. Due to COVID-19 I could not travel to the job any longer. Prior to that I was with another client for close to a year who also had Alzheimer's. I have been working with a client who has ALS for the last 5 years. My client's families are very willing to speak to any potential clients or their families. I love what I do and I believe it shows.
