I didn't choose the caretaker life. The caretaker life chose me. I started early and not on purpose, but because responsibility doesn't always knock, sometimes it just moves in. There's no rule book on how to be a parent or a nurturer. You can prepare all you want, but life has its own syllabus. Being a caretaker isn't something you learn from a class or a handbook, it's something that's built into your DNA. It's instinct, patience, and heart all rolled into one. I take pride in being the person who makes sure everyone's safe, fed, and loved with a little humor and a lot of care along the way.
