Hello, My name is Jan . I am a lifelong resident of Arcata, California. My children are sixth generation to call Humboldt County, home. In 2017, after raising 10 children, (seven adopted) and running an animal rescue on our farm, I began caring for an elderly gentleman newly diagnosed with Dementia. Art was my neighbor and his only family member was on the East Coast. I cared for Art for seven years, working closely with his family member. Art passed away this year. Having loved the opportunity to care for Art, I also began caring for three other seniors, Lindy, Paul and Cherry, until they entered assisted living or passed on. Caring for these seniors was something I will cherish the rest of my life. I am at my best when I'm busy doing what I'm passionate about. I have boundless energy (I'm also a hiker.)
