I have worked for the Glastonbury Parks and Recreation department as a Group Leader at Camp Sunrise. Camp Sunrise is a camp for children/adults (ages 4-21) with a variety of special needs or disabilities. As a group leader I am responsible for ensuring the physical and mental safety of 10-13 children with a range of disabilities. I supervise both the campers and the volunteers, and plan fun and educational activities. Camp Sunrise has provided me an opportunity to meet some amazing children, and make lifelong friends. I have also provided care for a family who's 20-year-old son has severe autism and is almost completely non-verbal. I would travel to his house and get him off the van from school, and provide snacks and entertainment until his mom came home. I love meeting new people and am passionate about helping others.
