After 2 years of experience at an after school care center, I can say that caring for children but more specifically helping them see the value of knowledge has been the greatest gift. I am a second year college student studying neuroscience with goals of becoming a psychiatrist. Any free time I have I enjoy spending it with my family whether it's going out to eat or just relaxing at home. I started working with kids when I was in my first year of college and I worked at an after school program called the "Green Beret Project" which was a nonprofit organization helping kids in low-income communities with homework, food necessities, and building social skills among their peers. At first I started off volunteering but eventually I was offered a part time job.
