About Ishita M

Hi! My name is Ishita J., my pronouns are she/her and I am currently a chemical engineering student at Oregon State University with a computer science minor. I grew up in Seattle and I have been babysitting kids basically since I was 9 years old, so I have done many related trainings over the years (CPR/First Aid/Newborn Care). I have a brother who is 10 years younger than me so I am thoroughly versed in a range of childcare needs from changing diapers and giving newborns baths to picking them up from school and helping them with homework. The way that I like to babysit is by making sure every child feels safe and understood. I think the biggest challenge that babysitters typically face is a disconnect between them and the children. For example, when a child comes up to them crying about a broken toy, they might brush it off because it doesn't seem important, however it is extremely important.. to the child! I like to make sure to resolve conflict with empathy and understanding!
