Hello, my name is Isabella and I love spending time with those with special needs! I graduated in May 2019 from UNC Asheville with a degree in Psychology and I will be starting a Master of Social Work program at UNC Charlotte in the fall. Currently, I am a substitute teacher in the Union and Cabarrus counties and I have worked with special needs children of all ages, from Pre-K up to age 20. I have mostly worked with special needs regarding autism but have also cared for children with downs syndrome, Angelman's syndrome, cerebral palsy, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, and other cognitive and physical disabilities. Many of the kids I work with regularly are nonverbal and I have experience caring for individuals in wheelchairs. I make sure to come into each environment calm, collected, and compassionate and I am accustomed to witnessing and de-escalating meltdowns. I love working with these kids and hope to one day become a special needs school social worker!
