About Iris

Hi, I'm Iris! I'm a high school biology and chemistry teacher in Harrison, NY. During the summer, I provide tutoring, pet sitting, and childcare. I'm a lifelong animal lover with experience caring for dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens, ducks, and peacocks after growing up working on a farm in Oregon. I have extensive experience with both small and large dog breeds, as well as cats. I'm also a cat behaviorist and have over 8 years of volunteer experience with NYC nonprofit cat rescues, caring for neonatal kittens and medically fragile cats. I'm trained to administer oral medications, subcutaneous injections, vaccines, eye treatments, bottle-feed newborn kittens, and provide specialized medical care. I earned a Ph. D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, a B. S. in Biochemistry, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. I am CPR, AED, and First Aid certified.
