About Imelda

Imelda has been taking care of my daughter for the last 15 months - she started with our family when our daughter was just 5 months old, and she is absolutely the person we'll miss most when we move at the end of the month. This is our first child, and Imelda has been such a wonderful caretaker. It was very important to us to find a caretaker who spoke fluent Spanish - my husband and his family speak Spanish, and we our raising our daughter bilingual. Imelda's Spanish and English are both excellent, and it's fun to hear about my daughter's Spanish vocabulary from her. I work from home, and I was a little worried about getting too much underfoot for a nanny, but Imelda has navigated it with grace. She is super respectful (this is not a flattering story to me, but I asked anyone carrying my daughter on our stairs to carry her in her carseat until she was almost 8 months old, because I had postpartum anxiety and also because I broke my foot on those same stairs when I was 9 months pregnant. More than one family member told me I was being ridiculous, but Imelda was super accommodating, which I really appreciated). Imelda also makes suggestions to improve our lives (for example: suggesting daytime sleep training around 15 months, which worked beautifully, and drastically improved naptime). She's taught my daughter things that never occurred to me to teach her (like how to sit down again when she started pulling to stand, and the clean up song). All in all, Imelda works amazingly hard. She makes great suggestions without imposing, takes direction without difficulty, and exercises excellent judgment. Most importantly, I know my daughter is safe, loved, and well cared-for when she's there. We will miss her dearly, and any family would be fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Imelda.
