One of the first things I noticed after moving out of my family's home was how much I missed having a dog be a part of my day. Of course I knew I would miss my dog, but I didn't realize how much his company added to my life. In the few moments I would stop to pet a dog or hang out with a friend's cat I realized that I slowed down. Pets remind us to be playful and present and patient. They help us to slow down but also hold us responsible. As a recent graduate I am not in a position to have a pet of my own but I do have plenty of room in my schedule for other people's pets :)
