I'd describe my personality as reliable, hard working and patient. I love caring for others, it gives me a sense of purpose and is rewarding and empowering. I appreciate caring for seniors because I was raised by my grandparents whom I loved very much and had the pleasure of caring for in their older age. I am trained in CPR and first aid with over 15 years experience. I have experience with dementia, and hospice cancer patients and transfers using a hoyer lift. I'm looking for a job in that where I can utilize the skills that I've attained throughout the years and improve the quality of the lives of others.
Saane joined our family about a year and a half ago, initially, to take care of mom, who had moderate dementia, and dad, who had mild dementia at the time. We have recently had to move them both into memory care as their cognitive health has declined, but I cannot say enough about Saane. She is sweet, patient, and compassionate. My mom didn't want anyone in her house at the start. When Saane would try to help her with laundry, for example, mom would grab the clean laundry from her hand. Saane calmly asked mom about her childhood, family, and interests. My mom fell in love. In fact, if we had any other help come, she would be nice, but would say, "she isn't like my friend". She did anything we needed her to, from cooking to cleaning, to helping Dad in the restroom as his health declined, helping them in the garden, and even taking them to their pedicures. She was one of the few people other than myself to get mom to shower because she trusted few people. The last few weeks, we've been getting my parents ready to move into a senior living facility, and she has helped us with the transition. In fact, after she said goodbye to them at the facility, the coordinator asked Saane why she was crying, and Saane answered that she would miss them. As I said, she became part of the family... she is reliable, trustworthy, kind... if I could give more than 5 stars, I would.
