I have over 30 years of experience as a Certified Home Health Aide and Certified Nursing Assistant combined. My background includes working with clients with Alzheimer's and dementia, stroke recovery, Parkinson's, COPD, diabetes, and cancer, as well as experience in hospice care and hospital settings.

My skills include medication management, Hoyer lift use, catheter care, colostomy and ileostomy care, complete bed baths, assisting with showers, taking vital signs, blood sugar checks, pulse oximetry, light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, running errands, and accompanying clients to appointments.

My experience comes from nursing homes, private duty agencies, home health, hospice, hospital settings, and independent caregiving. I value one-on-one care, communicate clearly with families, and adapt care to meet individual needs. I treat every client with dignity, respect, patience, and compassion, and making a difference in someone's daily life is why I love what I do.

Helen is on time, bubbly personality and very knowledgeable. 

Helen was my first experience with a caregiver. We hired Helen to care for my dad after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis. She was extremely knowledgable and provided excellent care for my dad. She treated him with dignity and respect as well as a tremendous amount of compassion. She guided us through a very challenging time and created a strong bond with my dad as well as my mother. I highly recommend Helen as a caregiver. 

Although Helen has only been taking care of my parents for a short time I don't know how we survived without her. She is extremely dependable, proactive and most importantly positive and upbeat. My father has Alzheimer's and my mom was struggling to take care of him alone. Helen has stepped in and has been able to do activities with my Dad while helping my mom manage all the other responsibilities of their home. She is proactive and has quickly alleviated  any concerns my mom had about having a caretaker come to the home. As per my mother "Helen is a joy".

Helen has been a blessing to our family and especially to our father who has some dementia and has recently been dx with Alzheimer's. Helen came in and got my father on track with his medication, getting his glucose levels down and so many other needs. We are so pleased with all that Helen has contributed to our family thus far. She goes over and beyond her duties to make sure my father is staying on track and she ensures that she stays in communication with us.  Helen is a great caretaker and anyone in need would be lucky to have her service.

I have the distinct pleasure of knowing Helen as she worked with me caring directly for my Hospice patients.  We were a team for almost a year while I was a Case Manager RN with a private agency.  Many times our patients were very difficult to work with due to the rapid progression of their disease process, which rendered them impossible for their family members to care for, causing discouragement, hopelessness, and often conflict.  Most weeks, I had the pleasure of working directly with her to care for 6-8 patients per day.  Because of her unbelievable compassionate care, knowledge of different disease processes, gift of encouragement and acute ability to communicate with exhausted family members and with the facility staff, her presence enabled a peaceful and calming environment.  The detailed charting required by me as their registered nurse, could easily become overwhelming and stressful.  Not the days I was able to team with Helen.  Instead of leaving the facility exhausted and overwhelmed, her presence also affected me in such a way I was energized and encouraged!  Many times we could be in a volatile situation due to conflict between family members regarding a loved one's care.  Because Helen always connected with the staff, patients and all family members, as a team, we could de-escalate the disagreements and assist with getting answers and additional help if needed.  Because of her talents, I was always able to thoroughly complete my documentation.  As my assignment came close to the end, I spoke with her about the possibility of assisting my daughter with personal care.  

During this time, I was able to experience just how wonderful Helen actually is, because I now was witnessing her, not as a registered nurse, but as a mother (one of those exhausted family members).

Helen is not just a caregiver, she is a member of your family!  From the 1st day she arrived at our home to care for my disabled adult daughter, I felt the stress fall off my shoulders.  She quickly made a connection with my daughter the very first day she was with us.  No one before and no one since has ever been able to make that connection.  Although my daughter is 31 years old, she is very small for her age, and due to her disability, almost everyone talks over her, ignores her and in general just doesn't communicate like she is mentally disabled, deaf and blind.

Because I have full time caregivers, and Helen had a full time position, I never had the opportunity to hire her full time.  However, if you are considering her for a position working with you or your loved one in a facility or in your home, please know there is no better caregiver available than Helen. 

She is caring and compassionate towards patients and their families.  She treats her patients with dignity and respect. I often relied on her report of a change in patients condition. She is trustworthy and dependable. 

I interviewed with Helen and considered her one of the most professional and caring people I have interviewed.  She had a copy of her TB test, recommendations from other people plus copies of her credential for me to review.  She also had prepared a resume showcasing her abilities.  Unfortunately, we were not able to work out a schedule that would work for both of us so I did not hire her. However, I would in the future, if the situation changed.
