About Heather

I took care of my grandfather and grandmother in their last years. My grandmother had dementia and required constant care and supervision. By no means am I an expert with this kind of health issue, but I certainly learned a lot about understanding the changes that occur and how medications can effect the person. I also helped with chores, shopping, laundry, walking the dog, and various personal needs. We would play games like cards or yahtzee and watch some of their favorite TV shows. My grandfather enjoyed telling stories and connecting me with the past via his vast knowledge of history. I also took him to the VFW for social events. I understand the importance of maintaining dignity as as much independence as possible for seniors. This day and age we are in allows us to connect with and enrich the lives of our senior population in a very dramatic way. It is wonderful to be able to help them maintain their quality of life and existing social networks.
