Hi my name is Heather and I have over 20 years of experience caring for children of all ages . My approach blends empathy, structure, and creativity to help children feel safe, respected, and inspired. I believe in guiding with empathy-replacing judgment with curiosity, using neutral language, and inviting cooperation rather than demanding it. I use consent-based language so children feel heard rather than judged. This builds trust, connection, and emotional resilience. With children, I love exploring nature, making art, cooking, dancing, reading, moving our bodies, and being silly. I also partner with families who value limited technology for young children, encouraging imagination, focus, and meaningful family rhythms. In addition to childcare, I am a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTA, 2020) and experienced chef, supporting families with nourishing meals and healthy routines. I maintain a clean CDL, current background check, and California Trustline registration.
Heather worked for our family for two long periods (the first about 2 years, the second about a year), with some additional work in between those two stretches. She provided exceptional care for our two sons (at that time ages 13 and 2, later ages 16 and 6) as well as family support. This involved coordination with us as parents around the children's activities, completion of visual therapy and handwriting exercises with our younger son, overseeing the older son's homework, transportation to/from activities, some light cooking, and an occasional household errand. Heather was (and still is) deeply loved by our boys, who both valued her very respectful and caring relationship with them. She is loving, creative, maintains clear boundaries, and uses positive discipline when the need arises. She never tried to parent the kids, yet provided them with the kind of kindness and support that would be expected from someone who genuinely cares about their success as human beings. Both kids felt she went "above and beyond" what any other care giver did, in terms of her compassion, intellectual and artistic curiosity, and belief in in each of their unique beings and accomplishments. As a matter of fact, our younger son (now age 11) was recently asked in school to write a "thank you" note to a non-family member -- he chose to write it about Heather. It brought tears to my eyes to read it, I felt so fortunate she had been such a part of our boys' lives for the years she worked with us. In addition to childcare, Heather also worked on occasion for my husband's photography business, providing some light office support. Heather is punctual, practical, straightforward, and exceptionally honest. She is someone who treats others with great respect and deserves to be working for an employer who gives the same back to her.
