About Heather

Learning is a journey, and I'm passionate about guiding students toward their academic goals. For the past four years, I've had the privilege of tutoring elementary students in subjects like math, English, science, history, and study skills. I hold a graduate degree and am a certified teacher. I foster a supportive and patient learning environment, focusing on building confidence and a love for learning. I adapt my teaching by actively listening and observing my students' interactions with new material, varying my strategies with visual aids, discussions, and hands-on activities. Communication is key, and I maintain open dialogue with students and parents to ensure everyone is on the same page. I celebrate small successes and break down complex problems into manageable steps to keep students motivated. Seeing a student's confidence grow is the most rewarding part of being a tutor. I am CPR and First Aid trained, have a car, and am comfortable working around pets.
