I love working with kids, I originally went to college for Special Education. I am currently taking a break from school and want to go back at some point. I work as a paraprofessional, I am entering my 6th year. I also coached soccer for ages 5-8 and was part time at Sylvan Learning. I am in the process of learning ASL as well. My brother has pretty significant hearing loss and now goes to the School where they only sign in school so while he is learning at school, my mom and I have been watching YouTube videos to start learning the basics.

Worked for us as emergency back up for a few days when our regular nanny went out with Covid. Communicated well prior to coming, showed up on time.  We weren't very impressed, though, with her childcare skills and lack of initiative. Due to the short term nature of the situation we did not explicitly discuss things like cleaning up after the kids' lunch, putting away toys, Etc, but it's been our previous experience that caregivers took initiative in these areas.  She did not.  At the end of the day toys were strewn about the floor, dirty dishes on the counter stroller in the middle of the living room, etc. We work from home and observed her frequently on her phone/completely ignoring the kids.  Heard from her several times that the kids "didn't listen" (ages 4 & 5). To our eyes she seemed oblivious to age-appropriate expectations for young children and had no skills to help redirect them. We felt she could keep them physically safe, but we would not hire her again.

She was really helpful with our kids. She got them to quiet down for naps quickly, which is no small tasks (my oldest tends to fight going down for naps, but she didn't much with Hannah). They had a lot of fun playing games with her after they woke up, and she got them to do creative and make believe games with all their different play sets. They had a great time, and we were really pleased.

Hannah was great with our little one.  Communication was fantastic, she was punctual and very friendly.  We will definitely be using here again and would highly recommend.

Hannah stepped up for us as a new caregiver when we had an important birthday to attend.  She was timely, got right in there with our young kids, didn't seem phased by the chaos of three under 5, let us know when she got them to bed (on time), and cleaned up from the evening.  The kids liked her and we will definitely reach out again.
