I have been babysitting for families in the Pioneer Valley since 2013 and have years of experience as a day camp and sleep away camp counselor. I have experience as a Hebrew school teacher and worked as event staff with kids at Central Rock Gym in Hadley. As a doula and trained EMT I am comfortable with infants and children of all ages. I additionally enjoy helping with other tasks families may need in the home such as meal prep/cooking, organization, and cleaning. Hannah seemed nice. During both a phone call and zoom call she assured being responsible and we agreed to give each other a few days heads up on coordinating schedules. She showed up on time the first day and then she tells me she has many health issues. I would not turn away someone just because of health issues as long as you can do your job. I wasn’t bothered but definitely something you should have mentioned if you knew it was going to cause scheduling issues. The second day she cancelled on me right before she was supposed to come in. This was due do her being sick. She finally called and told me she could not babysit anymore (only did for one day) because she had many doctor’s appointments and her health came first. I respect that but it is irresponsible to schedule and confirm attendance and then flake. My entire day was a mess trying to find care, drag my partner from his job to help me with what was a very important work day for me that day.
