Hello! I have been doing professional child care since I was a junior in high school. I started with a paid internship through the Boy's & Girl's Club, once I graduated high school I immediately started working at daycares and preschools until a few years ago, I started nannying. I have experience with all ages up to 12 years old. Since I have worked in several child care settings, with many different kids, I feel that I have a well-rounded outlook on childcare, especially early childhood. I am caring, fun, empathetic, punctual, professional and receptive to any and all feedback. I am looking forward to meeting new families and creating new relationships.
Hailey presented well during the interview process, promising experience on paper, and showed great potential, initially. However, we gave a lot of red flags the benefit of the doubt (the new nanny transition, signs of the terrible 2-3s, possible personal stress, overly trusting her ECE background) while her care and enthusiasm degraded until ultimately her role was abandoned without notice after exhausting PTO benefits. Her tenure with us was 5 mo, and no bond was established, she abruptly left without any consideration or acknowledgement of my daughter. She made it clear it was strictly transactional, and my child’s care was not her priority. My regret and mistake: dismissing my daughter’s discomfort, and not being more thorough vetting the right gentle-parenting philosophy fit. Hailey expressed a preference for obedience, discipline, and consequences—an approach perhaps suited to older children she'd cared for previously, but misaligned with this developmental stage, navigating a toddler’s big emotions and impulses. Key observations from her tenure: - Punctual throughout, but grew less present and ultimately absent - Inconsistent in how she showed up and started each day - Lack of warmth; displayed limited patience - Appeared overwhelmed; brought outside stress into the home - Didn't follow through on her own suggested activities - Unreceptive to feedback; visibly displayed frustration or disinterest in a gentle approach My star rating reflects her shortcomings and acknowledges my responsibility for vetting the right fit.
