The first couple years of my adult life was spent caring for my grandma in her final years. I did everything from changing her diapers, cooking and cleaning for her, medication regulation, basic companionship, sitting with her at her appointments, bed baths, etc. and in doing so it opened up my eyes to how harsh and insensitive some caretakers can be and made me realize that I wanted to be one of the good ones that families will look back on and remember how well their family member was cared for. I've worked for in home support services from 2019 to 2025 taking care of people with Alzheimer's and dementia, HIV, muscular dystrophy, and other debilitating conditions and I've loved every moment of it.
