Experience: 3 yrs
Making a real difference in people's lives is what drives me. I support families by providing reliable care for their loved ones. With three years of experience, I offer respite, live-in, and hospice care, along with transportation, errands, personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, dementia support, medical management, and mobility assistance. My approach is patient, calm, compassionate, and friendly. I prioritize understanding each person's preferences and history. I am skilled in de-escalating stressful situations, handling confusion, and incorporating memory care activities. I communicate with families through written reports, texts, or calls, always following their preferred method. I have some college education, am CPR and First Aid certified, and I am comfortable with pets. I'm eager to bring my skills and caring nature to your family.
Gladys is a caring and very capable caregiver. She tended to my 90-year old mom for an extended period of time while my mom's primary caregiver was away. Gladys helped with daily logistics/tasks, grocery shopping, medication, light cleaning and garbage removal and other things that just pop up. She sent me daily updates and photos to let me know how mom was doing. Her help with light food preparation let my mom sustain her cooking independence, and she also assisted mom with her needed walks. A wonderful benefit was the medical massage Gladys gave my mom, which really helped with her mobility, leg strength, stiffness, and edema. Mom still talks to me about them! Given that she is in chronic pain, I can understand why they would be so meaningful for her. Gladys is fluent in Spanish, which helped, as that is my mom's native language, too. My mom was always fiercely independent and has been on her own for decades. Because of that, she can be stubborn about accepting care or delegating work she wants done. But she absolutely needs care and supervision. I felt Gladys was very conscious of all that, and accommodated mom's needs well and respectfully--she didn't want mom to feel useless. That sort of respect and willingness to help endeared us to Gladys and we still use her on an as-needed basis, as a result. I recommend her with confidence!
