I'm a 56-year-old energetic empty nester, former tenured teacher with excellent references, CPR and Children's Mindfulness Certified, and I have a clean driving record. I'm happy to take your kids to activities, libraries, parks and walks but the most important thing I will do is smile at your precious ones and remind them how special and loved they are every day. I taught kindergarten and fourth grade for years and then taught graduate education classes at Hofstra for 10 years while being a stay at home mom for my girls. The best job I've ever had is being a mom. I loved all of it and my kids felt that joy. The past few years I have loved being a nanny for two fantastic families. It's been incredibly rewarding and I'm seeking a new family to share my warmth, wisdom and experience. My own daughters are now 24 and 26 and recall the gift of happy childhoods. I will strive to provide the same safe, organized , nurturing, fun space for your kids.
Gina has been an absolute blessing to our family as she has watched our two very active young boys (ages 5 and 2) for the past 10 months. I had the pleasure of getting to know Gina while she worked with another local family and I was taking a leave from work. I was able to observe her first hand, and noticed right away how gentle and loving she was, caring for that young boy as if he were her own. Needless to say, I was thrilled when I learned she was available once I decided to go back to work. As a mother of two herself, Gina has a very pointed way of taking the child’s lead and making sure they feel heard. She is always engaging and interacting with them, inside and outside of the home. With a background in education and specifically in literacy development, Gina prioritizes reading books and visiting the library. Multiple times throughout our time together, Gina has checked in with me about how things were going and if there was anything she could do differently. I so appreciated her transparency and willingness to accept feedback. Gina is so thoughtful in her way of relating to children. When she found out my older son likes the Grinch and had a pair of Grinch slippers, she immediately bought herself a pair so they could be matching when hanging out at home. When she noticed my younger son favored a particular toy at the library, she bought that toy for him the very next week so he could enjoy it at home, too. She has even attended my son’s t-ball games on the weekends to show her support! Here is the perfect story to share about Gina: while I had a day off from work and was attending my son’s gym class with him (that Gina usually takes him to), another mom in the class approached me and said “I just wanted to let you know that your babysitter is amazing. She is so good with your son. You really found yourself a gem!” That was such a nice compliment to receive, especially from a complete stranger! Gina is top notch. You can be rest assured your children are in wonderful hands when in her care.
