In 2013 my mother, who was a NICU RN for over 30yrs woke up completely paralyzed from her chest down. She was immediately admitted to the Hospital where she stayed and received intense physical therapy for 4months. At the end of the 4th month insurance kicked her out the hospital into a skilled facility. After 30days at the skilled facility I decided she wasn't getting the therapy or treatment she deserved, so I moved her back to her private home, got my certified nursing assistant and became my mothers personal caregiver. I did everything for her, handled her meds, changed her when she was incontinent of bowl (when she became paralyzed her bladder never worked right after she began to walk again so she had a Foley catheter that was surgically placed through her stomach) made all her meals, drove her to all doctor appointments. Then suddenly on July 30th 2016 my mother passed away. I also became my husbands full time caregiver in 2016.
