About Gertrude

Experience: 25 yrs

Bringing joy and comfort to seniors is my calling. With 25 years of experience, I am passionate about supporting adults' well-being and independence. I am certified in CPR and First Aid. I'm known for being compassionate, friendly, professional, and detail-oriented. I provide transportation, run errands, assist with personal care and mobility, prepare meals, manage medications, and offer light housekeeping. I'm also experienced in dementia care, adapting to changing routines, de-escalating stressful situations, and handling confusion. I communicate with families through written reports and verbal updates, always respecting their preferred method. Respecting your loved one's independence is paramount to me. I became a caregiver because I want to support families by providing a reliable care option for them. I look forward to the opportunity to use my skills and experience to make a positive difference in your family's life.

If you are lucky enough to hire Gerti to care for your aging or disabled loved one, count your blessings. Gerti is the most dedicated, skilled, competent, compassionate, and trustworthy caregiver I have ever seen in action, and I’ve seen quite a few as several of my relatives have aged into disabilities and needed home care. Gerti did the best work on the hardest case, hands down. She cared for my father-in-law, who had a very mentally and physically challenging case of advanced Parkinson’s, for several years, and her care substantially improved his quality of life in every single way. He was not an easy patient, and she handled him with such a saintly combination of devotion, patience, and strength that I can only describe as God’s work, and she did it unfailingly for years. She’s smart, she’s tough, and she’s gonna make sure her patient lives the best life he or she can. To get slightly more specific, Gerti is highly skilled at management-level work, and you can hand her the keys to her kingdom and trust her to do things right. She organized his complicated care and managed a rotating team of staff like an absolute boss, but she was also just as fantastic at caring for him fully hands-on in all the details of his daily and nightly life, round-the-clock. From his skin and wound care to impeccable meal prep to drawing him out of spiraling fugue states with her good humor and active social engagement, she kept him sharp and healthy and laughing and telling old stories until the very end. She is exactly who you want to rely on to give the best possible care to your loved one, and you can actually rest easy and have some peace of mind. If that weren’t enough, Gerti is so loving and dedicated to her patients, she’s been known to drive an unimaginably long commute to continue caring for another patient who didn’t want to lose her when she moved. Gerti really, truly, loves and cares about the well-being of her patients in a way even compassionate caregivers strive to fulfill, and her care reflects every bit of that. If I needed care, or my dearest loved ones did, I’d do anything I could to get Gerti on the job. She never drops the ball, her integrity is impeccable, and I’d trust her with my life—and quality of life—any day of the week. In a world where integrity and authentic skill and care seem to be slipping away, or are so often a mirage, Gerti is like the Rock of Ages, no exaggeration. We are eternally grateful to her, and I can’t say enough good things. We consider her a full-fledged member of the family now, and we’re all the more blessed for it.
