Experience: 8 yrs
I have been a Traveling Caregiver for the past eight years working in AL, NJ, NY, PA, OR, NC, and WI. I worked in Madison WI for three years with an agency as a Live In Caregiver until October 2024. Alabama is my home where I live when I am not working. I volunteer my personal time for the less fortunate. I typically work for a year around the clock as a Live In Caregiver before I take time off for 30 days. The longest I have ever stayed with one family without taking time off was nine months, however the longest time away from home was with two families where I worked 437 days without time off. I believe in accountability, punctual, persistency those traits mean a lot to me. All I ask of families I serve please treat me the way you wish to be treated.
I had the opportunity to observe Gera’s work for 7 months during her time spent with our family as a full-time live-in caregiver for my dad until his passing. My dad was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer and suffered a stroke during surgery to remove the tumor, leaving him with little to no ability to move the left side of his body. What a blessing it was to have Gera as a caregiver. My dad took a liking to her right-away and they developed a good relationship in what was an extremely difficult time. During her stay she provided daily assisted living services including transfers to and from bed, wheelchair, recliner, and vehicles; dressing; toileting and bathing; as well as physical therapy services. She was always very respectful and gentle in her physical handling of my dad while assisting with these activities. She also helped with laundry and basic housecleaning tasks. She provided companionship for not only my dad, but my mom as well. She kept a detailed daily log of activities which not only aided with fulfilling insurance documentation requirements, but also enabled us to keep up with how our dad was doing on days we were not able to visit. She also worked well with hospice team members. She demonstrated an excellent work ethic, not missing a day for any reason, and had a great positive upbeat attitude, interacted well with the family, and was very dependable – putting us all at ease even though we lived hours away, knowing our dad was well-cared for. Her physical strength allowed us to take our dad to family events that would not have otherwise been possible, especially in the later months as my dad’s condition continued to decline. She also understood and provided family space and privacy when needed. As I learned during this time, it takes a truly special person to be a full-time caregiver and Gera is phenomenal. She is a personable and talented individual, enthusiastic and passionate about helping others. I do not hesitate in recommending her to others in need of a caregiver.
