All my life I have had a passion for working with special needs children. My youngest brother is speech and developmentally delayed, and I have been working with him his entire life to ensure that he gets the proper care and respect that he deserves--whether it be emotional support and counseling, tutoring in the various subjects that his disabilities make it difficult for him to grasp (especially language arts), or just making sure he feels loved and appreciated. I am also a Type 1 Diabetic, and have cared for many Type 1 kids over the years, and have a deep understanding of the emotional turmoil kids can feel when they observe themselves as "different" or not as "normal" as their peers. I was a medical aide for a child with Type 1 Diabetes at a day camp, and also had the pleasure of being a shadow to a multitude of wonderful special needs children all around the age of 6.
