About Gene

Hi! I'm Gene - former middle-school math teacher, engineering grad from Texas A&M with grad studies at UT, and dad to a wonderful 1-year-old daughter. I spent the last 11 years in tech as a software engineer and later an engineering director. But what I found most invigorating was mentoring junior developers and communicating concepts to colleagues and clients. Teaching felt like a calling - not just sharing knowledge, but helping complex ideas feel as if they were obvious. Today I run my own supplementary-education business, helping homeschooling families with English and STEM subjects. My style draws on the Montessori ethos; treating kids as capable thinkers and presenting concepts in ways that challenge but don't overwhelm. This is key. I leave room for students to find their own solutions while strategically guiding them to strike the balance between structured learning and discovery. The payoff is real confidence, comprehension, and a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
