About Gaia

Hello! I am Gaia, a rising senior at Augustana College triple majoring in English, Creative Writing, and History. During the school year, I work as a tutor at the Reading/Writing Center where I assist my peers during every part of the writing process as well as reading comprehension. I have completed a year of training, including two courses over tutoring theory and the best practices for teaching writing. I have also won a departmental award for history, awards for my writing (academic and creative), and have a 3. 97 GPA. I love the interactive and conversational nature of tutoring, believing in shared understanding and mutual learning. I am excited to work with my community and inspire young students! I'd describe my personality as bubbly built on confidence. I like tutoring because it is an opportunity to share my love of reading/writing, I want to inspire essential skills in my tutees, and I have walked away from many sessions having learned something myself.
