Since I am currently doing this part-time, if someone needs to get a hold of me for immediate emergency care, please call me, I will update status once I have made a commitment to a family. Currently, I am committed to one family that have me on call until end of June and I will update accordingly if anything changes. I was a babysitter while I was growing up and I have three younger brothers, who I helped to raise. I enjoyed babysitting in the past and I am looking for a full-time position Monday to Friday. I have been a part-time babysitter or nanny off and on with other family since I was 12 years old. I can be flexible if needed on other times depending on schedule. I am okay to do part-time (minimum 30 hours a week). I am currently looking for employment in the Wicker Park area. What is on most parents minds are thinking, "who is this person and how will she treat my child/children?" I thought I can answer some questions ahead of time in my profile to the best of my ability. The first thing I would need is your input about your child/children, whether you have any expectations, concerns, where are they are in their development physically and mentally. I would have tons of questions for you about your child so I would know them a little better through you. The second thing I would do is to get to know your child/children as individuals and I would listen to them. I believe it is always a great foundation that I know them myself and they show me who they are and to show me their talents and each child has their very own special talents. I do not feel any child is the same, each child is different and I do not feel it is fair to play favorites or feel any one child is better than another. I would rather emphasize your child/children's strengths so you can encourage them in areas they will flourish as well as some weakness that they can work to on to improve. I would treat your child with respect and courtesy because I believe everyone deserves that no matter what age. However, I do not appreciated being disrespected verbally or being hit and would ask the parents what are acceptable measures of discipline to correct misbehavior, but I will inform you ahead of time that I do not believe in yelling, shouting, verbal abuse or hitting in anyway. You can show disapproval to any child by just the reflection and tone of voice and explain to them what was wrong and to teach them what is wrong and right.
