About Etta Mae

My name is Etta Mae, and I am a caregiver, educator, artist, and lifelong nurturer with a deep love for supporting children and families. Growing up in a family of nine siblings, caring for others came naturally from a young age. I have raised two boys on Hawaii Island, now ages 23 and 14, and motherhood has been one of my greatest teachers. For over 20 years, I have worked with children and families as a Waldorf-inspired Handwork and Arts teacher in Waldorf schools, public schools, and homeschool programs. In 2012, I earned my Waldorf Teaching Certificate in Handwork from Rudolf Steiner College. My approach emphasizes creativity, rhythm, nature connection, and gentle guidance. In 2016, I founded The Center of Creativity, a community arts studio on my family's multigenerational homestead where people of all ages gather to create, learn, and connect through workshops, seasonal celebrations, and shared artistic experiences.
