I previously worked in an assisted living and an adult foster care home. I started working in a therapy clinic with kids in 2023. When I was working there, I found a love for supporting kiddos. I found that teaching communication, mindfulness or coping skills, helped me to grow in those areas too. I am a Registered behavior technician, and I have worked with kids who are anywhere from 2-18 years old. I currently work in a school and am looking for work over the summer. My top childcare skills are in emotional and/or educational support, along with building communication skills. A personal skill of mine, is in meeting people where they are at- emotionally, mentally and physically. I think especially with children, those skills are very important.
Erin has helped care for my boys, 5 years old and 8 years old, for the past couple of years. I am very grateful to have found her. I have been 100% happy with her. I have had dozens of babysitters over the years. She interacts with the kids the most and is on her phone the least. She has full intention of helping the kids grow and develop while she is there. Even when she is not on the job, she thinks of activities to do with the kids. She makes her own educational games and flash cards that she brings over to help the kids with areas they need help with. She is professional, kind, empathetic, thoughtful, energetic, and intelligent. She has training and education in child behaviors and development. She has a lot of experience working in schools with kids with behaviors. She also has a natural gift of understanding kids, and she knows how to calmly and respectfully work with them to become well behaved, respectful and helpful kids. I'm amazed at how well she interacts with the kids, how she asks them questions to help them work through their feelings and decisions, how she explains to them what is respectful and appropriate, in a gentle manner. My kids don’t have any specific behavior issues, but they have grown so much through their time with Erin. For instance, if the kids say a bad word, she works with them to find 3 good words they can say. She has so many little tricks and methods like this that encourage good behavior in a fun way. Erin is patient with the kids and always gets them to help set the table and bring their own plates to the sink and clean them off after, even though we never taught our kids to do that and we never told her to do that with them. She takes her own initiative in teaching the kids life skills and we are very thankful for that. She does activities and experiments with the kids, such as making Play-Doh she found a recipe for, and homemade popsicles. Every time she is over, she, on her own, wants to teach them something new. She asks the kids what they want to learn. My older son wanted to learn about the states. She downloaded an app for learning states and did it with him each week. He wanted to learn Roman Numerals, and she made some posters with him. He learned them perfectly. For our 5-year-old, she completely taught him how to write his name. We were shocked when we came home and he could write his whole name perfectly. She worked on upper case and lower-case letters and numbers with him weekly. She asks the kids how school is going and what they need help with. She helped my now 8-year-old with learning to tell time. I didn’t even know he was learning that, but Erin asked him and found out he needed help with that. She made flashcards several times, such as for practicing spelling large words. On her own, not on the job, she made sensory boxes, laminated activity pages with counters for learning addition and subtraction, and much more. She is energetic and actively plays with the kids throughout the entire time she is with them. She plays tag, hide n seek, hopscotch, Legos, runs in the yard with them, etc. She takes the kids on walks so they can ride their scooters. She takes them to the playground, Frankenmuth, indoor playgrounds, the zoo and discovery museums. Erin always asks me what she can help with. She goes above and beyond. She texts updates. When I come home, she thoroughly tells me everything they did, what the kids ate and how much of it they ate, which is very helpful. She is a great communicator. She helped the kids become independent and helpful around the house. She has been a joy and tremendous help to our family.
