I started working with individuals with special needs in high school and absolutely fell in love with it. Since then, I have been involved with various organizations that provide me with opportunities to love on and just be friends with people with special needs. Some of these have been Best Buddies, TOPSoccer, Tim Tebow Foundation's Night to Shine, LiFT Academy, GatorPals, & Camp Krem (a stay-away camp for people with disabilities). Working with this population has allowed me to experience more joy and love than I could have ever imagined and actually helped me make my decision to pursue a career in speech-language pathology. My favorite thing about working with those with special needs is seeing just how much they're capable of and how much they can accomplish when other people believe in them and help make opportunities accessible to them. I'm excited to see that our world is slowly becoming more and more accepting of individuals with special needs and aware of how awesome they are!
