About Erin

I have been babysitting for families since I was in high school. I am a local elementary teacher and have worked with every age group (newborn through 12th grade) and every variety of special need. I have experience as a nanny and as a postpartum doula. As a doula, I worked with newborns and their families, often providing overnight care. I also tutor in general subjects and teach private art lessons. I have tutored one student all the way through middle school in the general curriculum (math, language arts, social studies, science.) He started out as a B and C student and is now finishing up middle school as an honor student, preparing for honor classes in high school! I have a lot of professional experience with special needs (developmental, intellectual, physical, speech-language, etc.) as a public school teacher and personally within my family. As a teacher, I have learned from some of my special needs students, who have surpassed every assumption or expectation I once had for them. I am also a pet lover and I have experience as a pet sitter. I have two large dogs of my own, but in the event I am needed to stay overnight somewhere with a pet, I can leave my dogs with my boyfriend. I can provide references for all of my experiences. I do not pay CARE. COM for the background check simply because, as a public school teacher, I have already been background checked by the T. B. I. Because I am a teacher, during the school year I am limited during the day but available nights and weekends. In the summer I would be available during daytime hours.
