About Erica

My mom's last year was a bad one. She was sad and angry most of the time. It was tough on me to see her that way and it made it worse that she thought I was my dad, and was mad at me most of the time. She was in a good assisted living facility, but she didn't really connect with any of the staff. They helped with basic quality of life but that was it. We hired Erica hoping she could help make a difference in her life, and she surely did. She was a blessing to mom and to the family. Most of the happy times mom had that last year were because of Erica. She immediately was a friend to mom and quickly was family. Erica could handle her anger better that anyone else. Weekly she made sure mom had special outings that made her happy, even when it became very challenging. Whether it was to see her best friend in a facility across town, to stroll thru downtown Cary or a local park, to Talbot's, or just to get a milkshake, mom was always excited about Erica taking her outside. If they couldn't leave the building for some reason, she did her best to get mom out on the deck. She loved that. When mom was sullen and quiet, Erica could almost always turn that around. Erica always made a special effort to make her feel pretty. From a practical standpoint Erica was flexible, communicative, dependable, honest, and helped us keep the facility staff accountable for their role. The bottom line is, you will not find a better caregiver for your loved one.
