About Erica

I am currently an undergraduate student studying elementary education at Endicott College. While I work towards my degree, I am also engaged in three positions of employment. I work as a regular babysitter, a peer tutor, and an assistant librarian. I truly have a love for learning and as a teacher, as well as in other child-care environments, I hope to establish a love for lifelong learning in others. My goal is to spark an enthusiasm for learning and to encourage children's natural curiosity in and outside of the classroom. When caring for children, I love to engage them in imaginative play, art projects, creative and fun physical exercise and other activities that benefit body and mind. I am currently looking for a live-in nanny position for summer 2013 (June to August). I have work experience with children, ages 6 months to 13 years-old. Character development is extremely important to me. All individuals need to be seen, heard, understood, and truly cared for. This is especially true for children. While learning about themselves and the world around them, children need support to understand their new experiences. I enjoy teaching children about respect, cooperation, and effective communication. These are essential values to me when working with others. My role as a nanny is to ensure that each child is healthy, safe, engaged, and supported. I began babysitting and working for a summer camp at the age of 13, and quickly discovered that I absolutely love working with children. In the seven years since then, I have continued babysitting regularly, have worked as a camp counselor (seven years), as an after school daycare program assistant (four years) and as a part-time nanny (three years). Currently, I am working towards a degree in elementary education at Endicott College.
