Caring for my three younger siblings with special needs has been a huge part of my life. Each of them has different challenges -- from autism to complex medical needs like trachs, vents, and G-tubes. One is nonverbal and developmentally delayed, another has fetal alcohol syndrome, and another lives with short gut syndrome that affects her stomach. Helping my family with their daily care has made me more understanding, patient, and confident in working with children who need extra support.
