About Emily

Emily quit on us five minutes before she was supposed to show up for her first day. I told her she could park in the street its winter and there were plenty of parking right in front of our house. She said I told her she could park in the driveway which is true but with the snow it was hard to park another car. It was 20 out why have my husband move his car when there was plenty of parking on the street. I was going to discuss with her when she arrived that the next time she can park in the driveway. For that day she could have parked right in front of our house. It's dead on our street because it's winter. So there are like 6 spots available all the time. For the interview I had her park in the parking lot across the street which is owned by our neighbors and with their permission we're aloud to use it when they are off. She seemed to make a comment about it being a tow away zone. Well you left and you obviously wasn't towed. No one is towing you as the neighbors let us use that lot all the time. She said she has many jobs in Newport with street parking and doesn't want to do that again. Seems strange as literally two spots right in front of our house. We couldn't explain anything as she blocked us. Didn't care to hear us after she told us she didn't feel comfortable five minutes before arriving because of parking. Mind you my Mom was excited to play some card games. She went to her closet and pulled them out for them to play. I think to do that to an elderly person is sad. I think people don't seem to realize how hard it is to let you in our personal homes to meet you and the day you're supposed to arrive you quit 5 minutes before and blame it on parking that wasn't even a problem. Which again would have discussed when she arrived! Clearly she didn't like the job and found any excuse to not come. Mind you as full-time caregivers we're just looking for a couple of hours for ourselves to take a breath. Because it's hard taking care of someone 24/7. I am so happy we saw the red flags before even starting. Because if you can act like this for no reason what else was going to come up?! Obviously this wasn't about parking. She could have been more professional and just say this isn't a good fit a day, an hour before arriving not five minutes and then block us. As it says a lot of what kind of person you are! Mind you this was a very easy job and we pay a lot and tip extra every week on top of pay. So this is clearly a "her" problem that you think you could at least cared about the elderly person who was sad the rest of the day and thought she did something wrong!
