About Emily

I am a senior of the University of North Carolina Wilmington. I am majoring in Biology with a Pre-Vet concentration and a minor in Neuroscience. I have an applied to vet schools across the nation and am awaiting their responses. At UNCW, I have been a Supplemental Instruction, SI, Leader for 4 semesters for Principles of Biology, BIO201. It's similar to a tutor. I lead peer-facilitated group review sessions twice a week. I create a one hour session plan including a warm-up, main activity, and a cool-down. These activities are to insure the students are practicing and applying the material they have learned in class with my guidance. I also have a drop-in hour once a week, which is basically like a professor's office hour. Overall, I love helping students realize their full potential and provide them to space to grow and learn. I believe my SI job creates a strong foundation for me to tutor a biology course.
