Caring for a child with special needs will always be close to my heart, I have a cousin who has down-syndrome and she just lights up the room every time I am with her. With these kids, you have to have the heart and the attitude. This job isn't for everyone, it takes a special person. I am very passionate about what I do because I love kids off all ages, they seem to always brighten my day and when I leave my job I know I did the right thing when the child doesn't want me to leave. With these kids, have prepared meals, did light housekeeping, played games with them along with arts and crafts. I don't want to just sit around with the child unless they are preparing to take a nap because they love to be active. Keeping the mind active and engaging is what these kids need, they prefer to have a schedule of some sort because it's beneficial to them. Again, I have had very well attention with special needs kids as well because my mom works with special needs kids in a high school.
