In 2020, I started para-educating a 4th grader to help ease their transition into online class/homework, and provide myself with an "easy" source of income. I primarily was present to provide my physical presence/a set of eyes to help the student be accountable for getting their self-directed homework/coursework done. I helped them complete work in all subjects (math, science, reading, writing, art, etc). What I most enjoyed about those months was making a 4th grader's pandemic experience less lonely and difficult- whether it was providing cat memes or Bill Nye videos during small breaks, or being present to listen to their thoughts and feelings.
