After 22 years of teaching elementary gifted students, I decided to leave the field. While teaching, I was a caregiver for my mother-in-law for five years. Her main wish was to age in place. I managed a team of aides for her 24/7 care, coordinated grocery shopping, completed errands, did all clothing shopping/returning, managed medicine, food preparation, assisted with the mail, and paid bills. My experience includes caring for a couple in their 90's by doing their food shopping, preparing healthy meals, occasionally driving to an appointment, and offering companionship. While they were getting ready to move to assisted living, I helped them to declutter, go through their clothing, and do some packing. I truly miss spending time with them. I enjoy exercising, gardening, cooking, baking, reading, skiing, biking, hiking, traveling, and dark chocolate! I am CPR and first-aid certified, fully vaccinated (COVID/Flu) and a nonsmoker. My hours and days are flexible.

Ellen is such a kind and caring person! I hired Ellen to help my 90 year old parents a few times a week. From day one, Ellen was so easy to talk to and so comfortable to be around. She shopped and then cooked wonderful, fresh, fun meals for them that they absolutely loved! My dad enjoyed talking to her so much! She would patiently engage my mom as much as possible. Ellen also noticed things that could be handled in a better, easier way for my parents and she would just take care of it! She would help with whatever they were having a hard time with, like online ordering, going through clothes, fixing things etc. I can't say enough good things about Ellen and I am so thankful that we found her! She provided a lot of relief for me. The only reason we are saying goodbye is that my parents are moving into assisted living. As a last note, I asked my dad what he liked best about Ellen and he immediately exclaimed "She listens!! And she is very, very skilled!" I think that covers it! :)
