I cared for my dad for 9 years while he had a stroke and then Parkinson's, his last 2 months he was bedridden. Then, I cared for my mom and a few of her friends with light housekeeping, grocery shopping, doctor appointments, movie and shopping trips. I saw how much care my parents needed and felt bad for her friends that had no one. They would often take taxis that cost a fortune and then still needed help to put the groceries away when they got home. It is very sad that so many elderly have no one they can turn to. It is important to have someone else at the doctors with you so you remember all that you have to do.
