About Ellen

During the 24-25 School Year, I was a Teacher Assistant at a TUSD elementary school and worked in Kindergarten and 3rd Grade. I worked with children in small groups, helping with reading and math. I also supervised in the cafeteria and at recess. In all cases, my number one priority was the physical and emotional safety of the students. This meant being alert to anything that might be going on with students and responding appropriately, whether that meant quick interventions or redirections, reminders of the rules, pulling students aside to talk about behavior, or walking a student to the nurse. After safety, fun and learning were priority! I really enjoyed finding ways to keep students engaged in learning as well as asking them questions and getting to know them as people. I have also worked as a Climbing Instructor for children ages 7-9. Safety was, again, a top priority here as well as building confidence. Rule reminders and redirections were also important here!
