On top of getting my certification 23 years ago, I have stayed on top of my education by taking classes in senior care. Including but not limited to: Alzheimer's and Dementia Care, Hospice Care, Transferring Assistance(of all types), CPR and First Aid, and Care of Stroke Victims My expertise lies in the care of the elderly. I prefer Home Healthcare because you have the ability to connect one one one with whomever you are working with. In hospitals and other healthcare facilities, you rarely get that opportunity. In doing this, you learn new things about the person that greatly increases your success in caring for them. This isn't just a job, this is a calling. I have abundant compassion for the elderly and think they deserve a certain type of respect and care that is lacking in many healtcare settings.
